evaluation of anode, cathode, electrode and electrolyte 

Researches on electrochemical energy conversion and storage - fuel cell, electrolyzer, microbial fuel cell, flow battery - that evaluate electrical energy require highly versatile base test equipment for a variety of electrochemical research methods.

It is typical to characterize the performance by DC potentiostat/galvanostats polarization experiments analyzing current/voltage polarization and power density and by current interrupt measuring the internal resistance. 

In addition to DC techniques, it is often characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).  These results provide information about diffusion and the total cell impedance at different DC currents.
